Board Meeting

August 13, 2025, at 7:00 pm in the Town Hall (gym).  Located at 86870 Lenawee Road Herbster, WI

Call to order at 7:00 pm

Roll call:  Mark Pope, Jack Smith, Erik Felt, Tracy Gillespey and Kristin Mintzlaff.  Not present: Brandon Madison and Randy Kohlman.

In attendance: Mark Filonowich, Katherine Merrill, Patty Carpenter, Morgan Gerk, Patricia Murphy, Jeff Greene, Max Campbell, Donna Lundin, Sara Mustonen, Karen Churness, Dana Churness, Pete Burton, James Wissing, Shaunna Wissing, Tom Wissing, Merrill Biel and Maureen Felt.

Approval of the Treasurer’s report.

Town Truck Repairs

Discussion of the Town Truck Repairs and the cost of $24,490.94.

 

Installation for a bench for the Slough-Karen Churness

Motion by: Erik Felt/sJack Smith to approve the installation of the bench at the Bark Bay Slough with the Churness Family paying for the bench, installation and the maintenance of the bench and to also contact Tim Nicoletti for assistance on where to place the bench.

 

Installation of outdoor spigot at Herbster Community Gym-Mauree Felt

Motion by: Erik Felt/Jack Smith to approve the installation of an outside water spigot with an inside shut off valve and the Herbster Community Club covering the cost of the spigot.

 

Gym Access Task Force-Pat Murphy & Sara Mustonen

Recommendations were presented to the Board.  A special meeting will be held on August 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the meeting room located in the gym to discuss further.

 

Approval of Campground employee and wildlife issues at campground-Patty Carpenter

Discussion of the issue of geese in the campground and on the beach and some ideas that could be taken to help defer the issue.

Town Plan Commission: Pope

No meeting was held.

 

Fire Department: Felt

The Fire Department had a busy July.

 

Ambulance: Felt

No report

 

Campground: Smith

New host has been hired for the campground.  The campground is looking to fill a position to help the host with miscellaneous duties.

 

Playground: Madison

No report.

 

Cemetery: Madison

No report.

 

Roads: Pope

Ditching of Cemetery Road and Bark River Road.  Calcium Chloride was spread on several town roads.  Culverts have been ordered. The Town will be unable to do chip sealing.

 

Boat Launch/Bark Bay Slough: Pope

Raise walkway and gravel the parking lot at the boat launch.

 

Gym: Pope

No report.
