Board Meeting

March 11, 2026, at 7:00 pm in the Town Hall (gym).  Located at 86870 Lenawee Road Herbster, WI

Call to order at 7:00 pm

Roll call:  Mark Pope, Randy Kohlman, Erik Felt, Donna Lundin, Tracy Gillespey, Brandon Madison and Kristin Mintzlaff.

 

In attendance: Mark Filonowich, Lois Palmer, Tom Wissing, Patty Carpenter, Jody DeMeyere, Morgan Gerk and John Mundahl.

Approval of agenda

 

Motion by: Brandon Madison/Randy Kohlman to approve the March 11, 2026, meeting agenda.

Carried unanimously.

 

Public comment (3-minute limit)

 

Morgan Gerk and John Mundahl brought to the board concerns about lack of signage on the snowmobile trails and on the beach.  Brandon Madison stated that he would talk with the alliance regarding this issue.

Transient Merchant Permits:

Lost Creek Adventures

Motion by: Donna Lundin/sErik Felt to approve the 2026 Transient Merchant Permit for Lost Creek Adventures.  Carried unanimously.

 

Trek and Trail

Motion by: Erik Felt/sRandy Kohlman to approve the 2026 Transient Merchant Permit for Trek and Trail.  Carried unanimously.

 

Approval of one day liquor license for Herbster Community Club Smelt Fry.

Motion by: Brandon Madison/sDonna Lundin to approve the one-day liquor license for the Herbster Community Club Smelt Fry.  Carried unanimously.

 

Live stream broadcasting for town meetings.

Erik Felt will contact the WTA and the Town of Cornucopia to get more information on this topic and bring it back to the board.

 

Inspection cost update form.

Defer.

 

Annual meeting April 21^st, 2026.

Annual meeting will be held on April 21^st, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.  It will be held at The Town of Clover Town Hall located at 86870 Lenawee Road.

 

Town Plan Commission: Pope

No meeting was held.

 

Fire Department: Felt

Paged 3 times but was called off.

 

Ambulance: Felt

6 transport, no mutual aids.

 

Campground: Madison

Opening day for the campground will be May 7, 2026.

 

Playground: Madison

Brandon Madison would like to see what the cost would be to put a new surface on the basketball court in the park.  Also looking at putting 15 mph signs by the park, redoing the stripes for the parking spaces and just giving the playground a good clean up.

 

Cemetery: Lundin

No report.

 

Roads: Pope

Town crew has been thawing some culverts that have been frozen.  With this new snow the grader is out doing the roads because the ground is too soft for the plow truck to do them.  The new town truck arrived.  Paperwork is in for the Bark Point Project but has not heard back from them yet might take a couple of months.

 

Boat Launch/Bark Bay Slough: Pope

No report.

 

 

Gym: Pope

It might be about another 3-4 weeks before the door comes in.  A broken camera was found in the gym.

The board discussed campground hosts for the 2026 season.

Motion by: Brandon Madison/sRandy Kohlman to hire Keith and Jessica Kenndy pending background check as campground host A for the 2026 season.

Carried unanimously.

 

Motion by: Erik Felt/sDonna Lundin to hire Justin Lied pending background check as campground host B for the 2026 season.

Carried unanimously.
