The Herbster Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1958 and celebrated their 50thyear of service in 2008. The Auxiliary was formed in 2007, and has helped the department with many different activities throughout the years.
Starting with the Herbster Centennial Celebrations in 2006, we have helped support activities such as, “Be Somebody Campaign” Annual Corn, Brat & Bean Feed, Annual Pancake Breakfast and Woody’s Annual Chicken Feed (see the Herbster Events Calendar).
Community Service - We were asked by Lulich Auction & Realty, Inc. to help host a lunch for a local auction sale and donated school supplies to the South Shore School District. We can help residents who request assistance in various activities with conjunction of the DNR and other proper authorities, such as grass burning, which was turned into a grass training exercise. In 2012, we handed out CO2 Monitors to various residents to help public awareness of a silent killer.
Over the years, we hand out children fun packs with valuable information about fire safety, and even have special guests to meet the youngsters, such as, Smokey the Bear and Sparky!
If anyone is interested in volunteering for the Herbster Volunteer Fire Department, meetings are held at the Fire Hall on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 pm.
