Camping on Lake Superior
Enjoy great camping on the scenic "South Shore" of Lake Superior.
Washburn, WI (April 28, 2015) – Bayfield County ATV/UTV trails will officially open Friday, May 1, 2015. The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest trails will also open on May 1, rescinding the closure order from March.
Trail conditions are variable and in early spring condition, so please tread lightly and report any downed trees or other issues as soon as possible to the Bayfield County Forestry Department at (715) 373-6114.
As always, riders should use caution when out on the trails. Please stay on the designated trails and routes and follow the trail signs. Be aware that there may be grooming equipment on the trails.
Trail maps can be found at area businesses and can also be viewed and ordered online along with updated trail conditions at www.bayfieldcounty.org/323/trails. Updated trail conditions can also be accessed by calling the Bayfield County Tourism office at (715) 373-6125 ext. 5.

Sure you can cook your fresh-caught Salmon and cook it over an open flame, or... eat out at our two restaurants just a block away.
Want to get away from the activity and get some seclusion? Our wooded campsites are tucked away, but not too far away. A quick two minute walk to the beach.
Pavillion and Playground
Herbster has a delightful playground and pavillion at the beach. Come for a picnic or a group event. We have plenty of space.
Have a boat you would like to take on a cruise around Bark Bay or beyond? Our first class boat launch is only 3 1/2 miles from the campground.
Trails, Trails, Trails...
Bayfield County ATV and Snowmobile trails run right through Herbster. Bring your machine along for the ride. Hundreds of miles of trails right from your campsite.
